Prof. Dr. Mossadek Talby who is a researcher at the world renown CERN, European Organisation for Nuclear Research which operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world, and who is a physics professor at Aix-Marseille University gave a conference to students of Özay Günsel Children’s University tilted as the “Fascinating world of subatomic particles”.
According to the press release issued by Özay Günsel Children’s University, the conference was held at Near East University Irfan Günsel Congress Centre Hall 4 and using visuals, Prof. Dr. Mossadek Talby informed the children on subatomic particles, dark matter and research conducted at CERN. He also screened a footage on Higgs boson explained what it is.

He shared interesting information on atoms and subatomic particles…
Prof. Dr. Talby shared interesting information on atomic structure and currently known subatomic particles some of which are elementary particles. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Talby explained how the universe was formed, some particles which have short life spans, what everything is made of, what holds things together, what holds particles in atoms, other elementary particles that can be found other than electrons and quarks. Moreover, he provided details on the Great Hadron Collider, LHC Tunnel and proton-proton interaction, ATLAS Detector, CMS Detector, ALICE Detector, LHCB Detector, a new CERN Innovation after the world-wide computing grid www.

The Q & A section of the conference astonished Prof. Dr. Talby!
It was stated that the conference was quite colourful and fun due to the interesting questions asked by children aged 06-12. In fact, Prof Dr Mossadek Talby, who has conducted scientific studies on subatomic particles and has published many articles, answered students’ interesting questions about atoms, molecules and electrons and was surprised to find out that they even asked questions about quarks and leptons. Also, students, who listened to Prof. Prof. Dr. Mossadek Talby with interest and curiosity, asked questions about the substances that make up the universe, the particles that we see in the universe and the particles that interact between the bodies, and about the atoms in the human body. Making a statement regarding the students’ interests and questions Prof. Dr. Mossadek Talby promised to answer all the questions which the students would like to write and ask; and assured that he was willing to contribute to events similar to the one realised.

At the end of the conference, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Özay Günsel Children’s University Anna Günsel presented a plaque of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Mossadek Talby.

University authorities were also present at the conference…
It was pointed out that General Coordinator of Özay Günsel Children’s University Psychologist Çağla Akarsel was the presenter at the conference to which Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Özay Günsel University Anna Günsel, Rector of Özay Günsel Children’s University Prof Dr. Filiz Meriçli, Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Consultant of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, General Secretary Özay Günsel Children’s University Duygu Kaptanoğlu, academicians and researchers attended.
