Özay Günsel Children University completed its distance education preparations for 2020/2021 Fall Semester

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Coordinators of Özay Günsel Children University, the first and the only children's University of Cyprus, which will provide free online education to all children in the 2020-2021 Academic Year, organized a training workshop on the distance education portal where interactive activity applications will be carried out.

According to the information given by Özay Günsel Children University, In-service Moodle training was given by Near East University Educational Technologies and Informatics Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülsüm Aşıksoy and Deputy Coordinator Fulden Ergün to the coordinators of Özay Günsel Children University. In the training workshop, where information on the development and use of teaching materials such as text, sound, image, animation to be used in online lessons was conveyed, the factors that will ensure the attention and motivation of children during distance education were also discussed, and ideas were exchanged on the distance education portal.

With the distance education system prepared, Özay Günsel Children University courses to be applied in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in the fall term of 2020-2021 will be held online with fun and educational programs.

All students who want to participate in the free training will be able to register by filling out the online registration form to be provided at ozaygunselcocuni.neu.edu.tr. Students, who will receive a unique password with their student number at the registration stage, will be able to participate in online training by logging into the system with the password they have received. Each student will be able to collect credits for each training they attend.

Özay Günsel Children University Rector Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli said that they are working hard to provide easy, fast, effective, and fun learning in line with the needs of the students. Expressing that they are conducting intellectual discussions on the distance education portal in order to create an ethical and creative teaching environment, Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli said, “We held an educational workshop where the details of the live broadcast and interactive activity applications were discussed through the development of a student and user-friendly special learning system. We informed our coordinators on how to use the distance education portal. Our students will be able to access the system from any place through an internet connection, by entering their passwords we will send to them after the online registration they will make on our website. We will continue to teach science, technology, engineering, mathematics and art in a new and attractive way for children in the STEAM model, which is our educational basis."
