Özay Günsel Children University, which offers free distance education to all children in the 2020-2021 Fall Academic Period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, continues education at the weekend with educational activities. The second of the trainings, which take place every Saturday, was held.
Within the scope of the distance education program carried out, the 6 - 8-year-old World Group met with their teachers at 'I am Making Colorful Stones', 9-11 years old Solar Group at 'I Make Wonders in the Kitchen' and the 12-15-year-old Galaxy Group at 'Carrying the Laboratory to Your Homes' activities. The distance education program is implemented with interactive activities to ensure that children benefit from the education process in the most effective and efficient way. Thus, children are prevented from constantly sitting in front of the computer. Before starting classes, children are made ready to learn with active exercises accompanied by the trainers of the Near East University Sports Tower.

In this context, in addition to the main activities, Sign Language Instructor and Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Dr. Emrah Soykan also organized an event explaining the importance of sign language to students. Özay Günsel Children University Rector Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli gave a speech to all students on the meaning and importance of October 11 International Day of the Girl Child. Explaining that October 11, International Day of the Girl Child was accepted by the United Nations Organization in 2012 to attract the attention of people and countries about the education of girls and the problems they experience, and to increase their awareness, Prof. Dr. Meriçli stated that in many countries of the world, girls are not sent to school, cannot benefit from their education rights, they are little mothers who take care of their siblings at an early age, they are even married and become child brides and they cannot live their childhood. Emphasizing that societies and countries can only develop if all men and women receive education, Prof. Dr. Filiz Meriçli said: “As Brigham Young says: If you train a man, you gain an 'educated person', whereas when you train a woman, you train a whole generation. During the 2020-2021 Fall Academic Year, Özay Günsel Children University, which organizes online trainings for students as well as holding interviews with parents every Saturday between 17:00 and 18:00, held its first seminar on "Parenting in the Pandemic Process and Child Mental Health". Özay Günsel Children University General Coordinator and Child and Adolescent Psychologist Çağla Akarsel gave a seminar and informed the parents about the pandemic process.
